“Glancing” at Podspace Gallery, 401 Hunter St Newcastle 2300.
Artist: Peter Lankas
Peter Lankas is a teacher of fine art around Newcastle NSW. His exhibition at Podspace until the 18th of November 2012 is a successful attempt to bring the boring to life. Only an accomplished artist can achieve this. Petrol stations are painted with chunky brush strokes of vibrant colour. Street corners in busy cities are brought to life with wicked detail, the human element so natural and brave. But best of all are the airports. The experience of being delayed at an airport is captured with such charm that I almost wished I could be there “glancing” at the winter clouds scuttling by, while cocooned in an environment warm with the anticipation of adventure.
This is a must see exhibition for the artist and the layman.
