The opportunity for the artist to build an audience is paramount to success. Renew Newcastle offers a platform, not only brightening faded facades but encouraging vision and innovation. Four Point Gallery is a new project in Hunter Street utilising the concept.
Four educated local artists have banded together to offer the wider audience a large space to experience fine art. A diverse collection involving many local artists is showing at present as part of the opening exhibition, “Beginning Point”.
A woodblock print titled “Rusty tap” by Jacquie McCoy instils charm into what would otherwise be associated with the banal. And Gavin Hurley’s oil on canvas titled “Bundanoon Gold Mine” painted in rich tones with superb brushstrokes offers a glimpse into a maddening world.
There is much on offer in this upbeat new gallery including intriguing sculptures and installations. Beginning Point can be seen at 681 Hunter St Newcastle until 5th Oct. Opening hours are Wed – Fri 10am – 4pm. Sat 10am – 2pm.
