On The Edge

Artist: Vicki Hamilton

At Back to Back Galleries until 28th July.

Back to Back Galleries is the platform for an insightful exhibition with ethical intent. On The Edge smashes complacency lambasting a consumer conscience hidden beneath layers of economic delusion. Cracking this tough crust is a marvel Vicki Hamilton appears to have conquered in this her Master of Philosophy (Fine Art) exhibition.

VHColtan, a mineral used in communication devices, supports the desire for constant contact. Unfortunately the Mountain Gorilla in the Congo pays dearly for this luxury. With haunting yet mesmerising expressions these animals’ anthropomorphise and pity precedes disgust.

Bad Bunny recognises the deleterious impact introduced species have had on Australian wildlife. With good intentions these exotic species have taken a firm hold displacing natives. Which begs the question, are the destructive forces of the colonisation of Australia included in this analysis?VH!

This is an exhibition of merit, deep with empathy and intuition. Finishes Sunday 28th July.
