Exhibition: Tideline
Artist: Elena Morris-Britten
Art Systems Wickham until March 10
A curious youngster is perhaps the most zealous audience for the abundant life of the sea shore. But at Art Systems Wickham until March 10 a cornucopia of miniscule creatures belonging to that habitat are on display for all to admire.
The beauty of this environment is captured in considered detail belying the brutality and struggle to merely exist. Intricate marks in glorious colours form stunning plans of paths taken. Lines provide a limitless route meandering in a woven maze.
Rock pools flaunt copious strands of robust seaweed displaying the lustre of a string of pearls. Immaculately drawn snails abound.
Environment as muse is quite commonplace. However rarely is the tideline subjected to such serious contemplation and hence the subject of an extensive review. This exhibition proceeds to correct this.
