Artist: Kate Wilson
At Four Point Gallery
Despite what happens to the TAFE Hunter st campus in the future it will surely leave a legacy, and that is graduates who are willing to take risks and experiment with their medium and concepts. And Kate Wilson is no exception.
Her use of colour is dazzling with discordant juxtapositions generating radical movement. However without attention to a casual decadence regarding painterly application the work would not strike the same momentum. As it is there is a grungy feel that captures a kitsch brashness that is handled well.
Among paintings are also wooden wall mounted panels that reveal more about the artist and her interest in materials and their handling. Wire is manipulated and pulled into geometric shapes mimicking the attention given throughout the exhibition to form.
