A stunning show at the NGV until the 18th June. While the art is wonderful it wouldn’t have been as moving without the music of David Lang playing in the background.
My favourite. The Virgin Annunciate c 1645-50. Artist Bernardo Cavallino working in Naples in the seventeenth century.
Madonna of Humility c 1470. The universal love. The artist is unknown though it is probably Ferrara, Italy.
I was pleased to find this tiny painting by Elizabeth Louise Vigee le Brun after seeing her large works recently at the Versailles exhibition in Canberra. Titled The artist at work 1830.
Artist Luca Giordano (1634-1705) Saint Sebastian being cured by Irene c. 1653
